Social Skills Group Intervention for Children with High-Functioning Autism Spectrum Disorders

The 3-C Institute for Social Development in Cary, NC is doing a research study to test the effectiveness of a social skills intervention for children 8 to 12 years old with high functioning autism spectrum disorders (including Asperger syndrome). This intervention is based on an existing research-based social skills training program, but key changes have been made in order to address the more specific needs of children with high functioning autism spectrum disorders.

Groups will start in August 2008 and will last 10 to 15 weeks. Each one-hour session will be at the 3-C Institute for Social Development in Cary, NC. All group sessions are free for research participants. Parents and children will complete surveys before the first group session and after the last group session. Each family will be paid $100 for their participation.
